Dear Diary,
Today was my first day back in Maycomb. I got here this morning and me, Scout, and Jem are already messin with Boo Radley. We ain't trying to be mean, we're just havin a little fun. Anyway, we were just havin a catch when I heard talkin from inside the Radley house. I told Jem and Scout to come listen. It sounded like Mr. Radely was yellin at someone. We figured that someone was Boo. We couldn't really hear what he was sayin, but then it got real quiet. We didn't realize how close we were to the house, so we ran. When we were safe behind a tree, we looked at the house and Mr. Radley was on the porch with his shotgun. I swore I could see another man in a chair in the far corner of the room staring back at me. When Mr. Radley went back inside, the yelling continued and we ran. I told Scout and Jem that I thought I saw Boo, but they didn't believe me. I decided to let it go. I figured we would have all summer to see if we could see Boo. Well that's all for now. I can't wait to write about what I do tomorrow.

Summer in Maycomb: Dill

Dear Diary,
I just came here for the summer to Maycomb County, Alabama. I really like it and I already made some friends. Scout and Jem are my new neighbors. They’re real fun and we play everyday. There’s this house on the street called the Radley House. Jem told me all about the stories of the Radleys. It seems kinda scary and I’m very curious about the house. One day I dared Jem to go and touch the house. He though ‘bout it for a while but then agreed. I really didn’t think he was gonna do it. He proved me wrong. He touched the house then came runnin back all out of breath. I can tell that this is gonna be a great summer.
Today me and Jem are gonna give a note to Boo Radley. I came up with the idea. Jem said he was in. When Scout came out to play Jem told her she couldn’t but let her in anyway. It’s not that I don’t like Scout, it’s just she can be pretty annoyin and she acts like a real girl sometimes. Anyway, we were ready to give Boo the note. I wrote on the note asking if Boo would like to come out and play sometime. Jem attached it to the fishing pole and me and Scout were lookouts. I decided to ring a bell if I heard anyone comin. When Jem was close enough, he reached out the pole and tried to get it in the window. The note wouldn’t come off so Scout had to come help him. After a few more tries, I saw Atticus. He was standing right there so I rang the bell as hard and fast as I could but it was too late. We were caught. Atticus yelled at me to stop ringing the bell. We all tried our hardest to explain but Atticus just assumed that we were makin fun of Boo by acting out his life and givin him a note. I could tell that Jem was real upset that Atticus yelled at him.
